Please read our Submission Guidelines to see if your manuscript agrees with our goals and objectives.

Submission Guidelines

Please note that Canadian authors will be given preference. CanBooks also upholds a strict ethics / moral content code. Most of our books are suitable for readers of all ages. Inappropriate language is strictly avoided, and immoral situations are not dealt with in any detail.

Information for Non-Agented Authors

Due to a small staff and other considerations, Independent Scholars Press no longer reviews non-agented submissions and we take no responsibility for unsolicited submissions. Authors who wish to find a literary agent to represent them should consult Writer’s Market or Literary Marketplace, both of which are available in most public libraries.

Independent Scholars Press

Independent Scholars Press is an imprint of CanBooks, a Canadian publishing house. Most of our publications are released in electronic format with some books printed as either hardcover volumes or softcover with educational standard binding.

Independent Scholars Press publishes serious non-fiction in the areas of history, religion, biography, and social sciences. We are might consider well conceived and well argued works that promise to stimulate dialogue and that will have a long shelf life in bookstores and libraries, as well as within the classroom.

Independent Scholars Press has limited financial resources, and therefore we accept only a few manuscripts that we feel will be purchased by an interested audience. You might have a great book on the pottery of the Kingdom of Inabba in ancient Yemen, but if there is no market, how can ISP cover expenses? For books like this, we can offer you electronic publishing only. For books that have a wider audience, we provide full publishing services.
